Angels – through the ages
Winged beings were represented already in Roman antiquity, and later in various epochs and cultures. Whether Medieval, Renaissance or Gothic, each age had its typical depictions of angels. What image of angels do people of the 21st century have?
This question was posed by the Swiss Woodcarving Museum in its nationwide invitation to submit works. 19 artists responded by expressing their personal ideas of angels in the form of wooden sculptures.
The works are on exhibit at the Swiss Woodcarving Museum in Brienz until April 2011.
