UNIKA was formed in 1994 as a league of various
artists and craftspeople from Gröden, including woodcarvers, antique painters,
gilders, and ornamental sculptors. UNIKA stands for individual pieces that are
– unique. The name underscores that the works of the sculptors and painters in
the UNIKA group are individual pieces. Each is an expression of the creative spirit
and talented workmanship of one of the masters.
The group comprises about 60 members. About 30 of them participate every year in the UNIKA Sculptors Fair, held in Gröden annually on the first weekend in September.
